Multi-Cultivator MC 1000

Multi-Cultivator MC 1000-OD serves for small scale cultivation of algae, bacteria or cyanobacteria. It consists of 8 test-tubes, each holding up to ca. 85 ml of cultivated suspension. The test-tubes are immersed in a thermostated waterbath (its temperature is controlled) . Each tube is independently illuminated by an array of cool white LEDs (optionally warm white, red, or blue LEDs) that generate incident irradiance up to 1,000 µmol(photon)/m2.s (optionally up to 2,500 µmol(photon)/m2.s), which is independently adjustable for each test-tube in intensity, timing and modulation.

Growth rate of the cultivated organisms may be estimated by automatic measuring of optical density - measured at 680 nm and 720 nm independently at each cultivation tube. In the standard version, optical density is periodically measured and the data are stored in the Multi-Cultivator internal memory. Stored data may later be downloaded to a PC and displayed in graphs or exported to TXT or Excel files via the program provided. Supported are also user-defined illumination protocols, such as, flashing light or diurnal regime (optional).

Each cultivation tube can be bubbled with air or selected gas (optional) of different flow rate through a manually adjustable valve manifold. Optionally, Multi-Cultivator may be equipped with an additional module for connection to the Gas Mixing System GMS 150 or to an external air pump.

Optionally, the whole Multi-Cultivator system and all its cultivation and monitoring functions (light, temperature, optical density, bubbled gas composition) can be controlled online via the MC control software that provides intuitive and dynamic interface for online monitoring and visualization of all measured data as well as creation of user-defined protocols.

The instrument function can by enhanced by a number of various optional accessories: for instance, Cooling Unit AC-625 serving for the thermostated waterbath cooling; PWM Pump providing for automatic waterbath refilling, Peristaltic Pumps for continuous cultivation, etc.

Multi-Cultivator MC 1000-OD-MULTI is a NEW multi-color instrument version - each cultivation slot is furnished with LED-based illumination of different color. Spectrum from 405 nm to 730 nm can be covered. Single cultivation slots are equipped with the dividers so as to eliminate different color penetration.

Multi-Cultivator MC 1000-OD-MIX is a NEW mixed-color instrument version which allows to combine up to 4 different LED colors within each cultivation slot for definition of specific spectra.

When uploaded to the Multi-Cultivator, this Protocol can support up to 224 light phase intervals, each defined by light intensity and duration. Intended for MC device without software control.


High-Precision Gas Mixing System GMS 150
The standard version GMS 150 includes two channels (channel 1 for Air-N2; channel 2 for CO2). Preferably it is intended for use with PSI Multi-Cultivators, small-volume Photobioreactors, large-volume Photobioreactors and Growth Chambers. High-precision GMS 150 can optionally hold up to four channels.


NEW! - Gas Mixing System GMS 150-MICRO
GMS 150-MICRO includes two channels (channel 1 for Air-N2; channel 2 for CO2); its maximum flow is 5L/min. Preferably it is intended for use with Multi-Cultivators and small-volume Photobioreactors. Optionally the system can hold up to four channels.


PWM Water Pump
Serves for automatic water refill to the water reservoir when the water level drops below the required level as detected by the water level sensor. Primarily, PWM Pump is recommended when high cultivation temperature is required in the water reservoir and faster water evaporation occurs.


AC-625 Cooling Unit
Cooling Unit AC-625 (AC-90) enables reduction of temperature in the water bath as compared to the ambient air temperature. At laboratory temperature of 22 °C, the temperature of the water bath can be lowered down to 15 °C with resolution of +/- 1 °C. This accessory is valuable when high light intensities are required for cultivation as some heating of the water bath will occur from the high output of LED light. The unit is supplied with water pump AC 625, water chiller and connecting parts.


AC-625 Cooling Unit - Version 110 V/60 Hz
AC-625 Cooling Unit that is intended for 110V and 60Hz AC electricity. It enables temperature lowering in the water bath: At laboratory temperature of 22 °C, the temperature of the water bath can be lowered down to 15 °C with resolution of +/- 1 °C. The unit is supplied with water pump AC 625, water chiller and connecting parts.

Kit includes: 9 glass test tubes, 20 long glass aeration tubes, 8 short Teflon tubes, and 8 silicone plugs.

Three-Way Sampling Valve *

Photobioreactor FMT 150

Photobioreactors FMT 150/400 and FMT 150/1000 feature a unique combination of the cultivator and computer controlled monitoring device. FMT 150/400 and FMT 150/1000 differ in the capacity of their cultivation vessels - 400 ml and 1000 ml respectively. Both Photobioreactor models may be supplied with a number of useful accessories - sensors, stirrers, pumps, etc.
